CUSTOM DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RINGS IN BOCA RATON
A lot of people don’t realize when shopping for an engagement ring that most of the famous design brands, like Henri Daussi, Tacori, Simon G, can do custom designs. Yes, they have a wide range of existing designs that they produce and supply to jewelry stores around the nation, but if you want something different, it is as simple as asking for it to be done.
At Diamonds By Raymond Lee in Boca Raton, we work closely with all the top designer jewelry brands, so we can easily facilitate the entire process. This is exactly what we did for one of our customers last month.
CUSTOM ENGAGEMENT RING PROCESS (THE HENRI DAUSSI EXPERIENCE)
Our customer came in looking for an engagement ring. He perused our collection, looking for the perfect ring for his soon-to-be fiancé. Among his favorite were rings by Henri Daussi.
Before we go on with the process for this custom ring, let us quickly tell you about Henri Daussi…
HENRI DAUSSI
Henri Daussi was founded over 6 decades ago in the diamond capital of the world – Antwerp, Belgium. The man behind it all was Henri Daussi Loots…
Diamonds and jewelry design has always been deeply engrained in the Loots family history. His father, Jozef Loots, taught Henri everything he knew about the art of diamond cutting, which was a lot. With Henri being an astute learner and a natural lover of diamonds and jewelry, he eventually went on to become one of the most respected diamond cutters in the world. He built an unprecedented reputation across the globe. His specialty was the cutting of large and valuable diamonds. He was commissioned to study and cut diamonds for many of the most esteemed jewelry brands.
Henri was more than a hard worker, he was a pioneer. He actually engineered a special cutting wheel that allowed him to more uniformly cut facets into diamonds. With this groundbreaking tool, he was able to create new shapes (like the first ever perfect heart shape diamond) and maintain the highest level of consistency, which was impossible with the old method of hand cutting diamonds.
Shortly after the creation of this revolutionary tool, the brand went from a 2 man operation to a diamond trading company sight holder with 200 employees. The Daussi name was known for having the rarest, largest and most beautiful heart shaped diamonds.
Eventually, the Daussi brand began creating its own jewelry.
Like their diamond cutting, Henri Daussi jewelry was innovative and breathtakingly beautiful from the very start. Henri Daussi Loots passed on his expertise and passion to the next generation, as did they, which is why the Loots family tradition of cutting diamonds, crafting jewelry, and innovation on all fronts remains stronger than ever in the brand today.
It is still a family business. Their HQ is now in New York City. Henri Daussi has constantly evolved, becoming one of the most reputable and sought after designer jewelry brands around the world. Nowadays, they are revered for their stunning engagement rings, and rather than heart-shaped diamonds, cushion cut diamonds, which is the second most popular diamond cut in the world. Like their heart shaped diamond legacy of the past, they are responsible for perfecting the cushion cut diamond.

…But, we are not here to talk about Henri Daussi’s diamonds, we are here to discuss their custom engagement ring settings!
Does Henri Daussi do custom rings?
While Henri Daussi creates many unmounted engagement ring settings that can be bought on the spot and fitted with various diamond shapes of different sizes, they also do custom designs.
If you want a custom ring from Henri Daussi, you need to work with a third party jeweler like Diamonds By Raymond Lee in Boca Raton. The process will be facilitated on your behalf, while allowing you to be involved every step of the way to ensure the ring is exactly how you want it. This leads us back into the story of our customer who recently had an engagement ring custom made by Henri Daussi.
CUSTOM RING PROCESS AT DIAMONDS BY RAYMOND LEE CONTINUED…
Most of the brand new Henri Daussi rings at Diamonds By Raymond Lee are unmounted, which means they do not have the diamond center stone. This is ideal for customers who want to choose their own diamond center stone, as they can choose any shape and size for the unmounted setting. It’s a very nice touch of personalization for an engagement ring. Yet, it is not as personalized as actually having one custom made!
So, our customer was looking at unmounted engagement rings and one from Henri Daussi caught his eye. He thought the design was perfect but he wanted it to be bigger. He asked us if this could be done, and the answer was “yes!”
Enhancing an Existing Design
Coming up with a brand new design for an engagement ring is obviously no easy task. You need to have a very creative mind to be able to do so. As such, usually the easiest way to get a one-of-a-kind ring is to pull inspiration from an existing design (or designs) and make it yours with some easy to explain alterations.
In this case, our customer loved the ring but wanted it bigger. He asked if it could keep the same design but make the halo and shank 1mm bigger. 1mm might not seem significant, but for an engagement ring, it makes a huge difference, as you can see in the featured pictures, because this ring is substantial!
We knew this kind of custom design would be no problem at all. All we had to do was reach out to Henri Daussi and tell them what the customer wanted and they would send back a CAD (computer aided design), which we could then show our customer for approval.
CAD
After consulting with our customer about the process – which is us reaching out to Henri Daussi to explain the updated design, then waiting for them to send us a CAD, followed by approval and us shipping them a loose diamond to mount on it after it is complete – we sent over the info to Henri Daussi. As always they got back to us immediately and a CAD was underway.
It didn’t take long before a CAD was completed and sent over to us by email. We got in touch with our customer for him to look at the CAD to make sure it looked right for him.
Although the customer could have changed his mind or made some other changes upon seeing the design, he thought it was great so the CAD was approved.
Choosing a Loose Diamond
Rather than choosing one of Henri Daussi’s diamonds, our customer bought a loose diamond from us. We have the finest quality diamonds at the best prices, so this was a no brainer.

Our customer decided on a beautiful cushion cut diamond.
As the side stones and the halo’s round brilliant stones were going to be significantly larger with the additional 1mm, we instantly knew this ring was going to have a major presence on the finger.
Sending the Diamond to Henri Daussi
After the customer approved the CAD and selected his diamond, we sent over the diamond to Henri Daussi by express priority mail, which, of course, was fully insured.
Henri Daussi crafted the ring exactly to the CAD and then mounted it with his loose cushion cut diamond.
Note: Designer brands have no problem using loose stones that aren’t from their inventory. So, if you have a loose stone, you can use it for a custom ring!
Voilà! Project completed.
Henri Daussi sent us back the ring and we called our customer in to come pick it up.
Custom Cushion Cut Diamond Halo Engagement Ring By Henri Daussi
The featured ring in the pics is the custom engagement ring that our customer received back from Henri Daussi.
As you can see, the additional 1mm required larger side stones. The round brilliant side stones, which are all of a very high grade so they shine brilliantly, are quite sizable, especially comparing to a normal halo. A normal halo adds the appearance of around 1 carat to the centerpiece. This one adds around 2 carats. This makes for a far more affordable option to have a generously sized ring.
The same goes for the band. It is 1mm bigger and with that comes larger diamonds. Most accent diamonds on engagement ring bands are very small, but these are big. It makes for a much more impressive brilliance. Altogether, the light performance of this ring is incredible.
What’s more to love about this ring is its thickness. As you can see from the profile view, this ring’s centerpiece is not very tall. In fact, it is quite flat. For those who are active and want to avoid their ring catching on clothing or banging against objects, this kind of style is best. It will rest perfectly against the finger, being seen at all times without ever getting in the way.
All in all, this is a stellar design. Fantastic idea by our customer and great execution by Henri Daussi. To top it all off, it was completed quickly.
