Recap of the Diamonds and Donuts Car Show on July 12th, 2020

Here are the highlights from the Diamonds and Donuts Car Show on July 12th, 2020. Big thanks to everyone who came out!

With all that has been going on the past few months in regards to COVID, and even more so, with the uncertainty continuing due to the recent spike of cases here in Florida, we weren’t sure how this Diamonds and Donuts car show would turn out. We had tons of RSVPs, but the heat started coming down on us the last minute. Fortunately, we worked things out with the city of Boca so we could all enjoy a few hours of unadulterated auto-tainment.

Diamonds and donuts 2020

After months without a Diamonds and Donuts Car Show, we came back stronger than ever. The turn out was fantastic. In fact, even better than the most optimistic of us could have expected, as you can obviously see by the pics. People were clearly excited to get out of the house and show off their cars.

There were tons of cars from all classes. We did a good job of organizing, sectioning off the cars in groups by classes. For example, we kept all the Corvettes, Lambos, McLarens, American muscle, classics, and so on in rows. We encouraged social distancing by spacing out the cars methodically. And the hottest exotics got VIP parking inside our lot and their own table with 4 chairs and an umbrella.

When it comes down to it, Diamonds and Donuts is a way for us car enthusiasts in South Florida to enjoy what we love – AUTOMOBILES. The event was strictly that. Enjoy the beauty of vehicles that come from all parts of the world on a nice Sunday morning.

COVID PRECAUTIONS

There was no need for people to gather in large groups. This wasn’t a spring break party, it was a car show in its purest form. Guests simply kept to their small groups and perused the cars one by one. Of course, people talked to each other, but everyone played it safe. After all, we all want the same thing, to reduce the spread of COVID, keep up with our hobbies, and get back to normal life.

In an effort of keeping everyone’s safety top priority, we took all the necessary precautions too. We set up portable bathrooms and had hand sanitizer stations all around.

And, as this is Diamonds and Donuts, we offered everyone their own personal boxes of donuts, so no one had to touch a box someone else did.

As for our store, we kept the doors closed.

It worked out perfectly. The pictures speak to that.

SOME OF THE CARS AT THE DIAMONDS AND DONUTS CAR SHOW ON JULY 12

Now, let’s discuss some of the cars and models that were new to the Diamonds and Donuts car show.

On your mark, get so, GO!

White Ferrari 458 Spider

ferrari 458 spider

Taking the number one VIP spot at Diamonds and Donuts (our front entrance walkway) is the Ferrari 458 Spider. The 458 Spider is like the richer, louder and even more evocative version of the 458 Italia. With the roof down, the driving experience is undeniably more visceral than the Italia. Nevertheless, this is personal preference for us South Floridians. We like to be exposed to the sun.

More than just a decapitation, the 458 Spider was Ferrari’s first mid-engined convertible with a folding metal roof. Surprisingly to some, the aluminum top is actually 50lbs lighter than the cloth fitted top on the F430 Spider. It’s also more aerodynamic.

Regarding speed, the 458 Spider tops out at 199mph, which is only 3mph less than the Italia coupe, but the 0-60 sprint is the same at just under 3 seconds.

Price? We all like to know. Before it ceased production in 2015, the 458 Spider sold for $270,000.

Ferrari 488 Pista

ferrari 488 pista

We had the honor of being in the presence of a white Ferrari 488 Pista. This is like a dime piece of the car world.

According to Ferrari, “The Ferrari 488 Pista is powered by the most powerful V8 engine in the Maranello marque’s history and is the company’s special series sports car with the highest level yet of technological transfer from racing.”

Ferrari’s turbo V8 engine won the International Engine of the Year in 2016 and 2017. This is no easy feat. Even by Ferrari’s high standards, this engine is revolutionary. It has a 50 CV power increase over the 488 GTB and 115 CV more than the 458 Speciale.

With that, the car has jaw-dropping speed. It hits a 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds, punching out 720 cv at 8000rpm.

Top speed? 211mph.

Beyond its inimitable power, the car is ridiculously sexy. The same racing-derived aerodynamics that makes it blisteringly fast also make it aesthetically, better yet, exotically pleasing.

On the interior, it is a race car to the core, with two seats ready to hold you and a passenger securely in place for high speeds and insane cornering.

In terms of infotainment, you have a Burmester sound system, Bluetooth, aux input, navigation, and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. Moreover, the display to the right of the rev counter doubles as a way of controlling the infotainment system.

What else? Well, a few special features of the 488 Pista include automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, heated mirrors, launch control, electronic LSD, and their sixth generation of SIde Slip Angle Control.

It might not sound all too crazy on the amenities front, and that’s because this is a track-focused whip. It’s the Spartan of Ferrari.

As for price, the Ferrari’s most powerful V8-powered car to date is $350,000, which makes it the most expensive Ferrari too.

New Style Corvettes – A Gang of 2020 C8 Stingrays

corvette car show florida

The new Corvette has radically renewed interest in American cars. It has everyone talking in 2020. And not just people Stateside. We are talking about people all over the globe…

The 2020 Corvette C8 Stingray is extremely badass. It’s an American made supercar that competes with the best exotics the world over.

It easily captured the North American Car of the Year, with rapturous reception around the world.

“This all-new mid-engine sports car is so much more than Next Generation – it’s next level.” – Corvette

The mid-engine sports car is by far the most premium feeling Vette that Chevy has ever produced. But more than that, it is the most powerful.

It smashes a 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and can reach top speeds of nearly 200mph. This is mind-blowing considering the base price is only $59,995. This is the best value in the game right now.

By the way, for those who are now interested in pricing, keep in mind that you can get the drop-top for just $7,500 more. This car is a steal…and it stole our heart this past weekend at the Diamonds and Donuts Car Show.

All in all, it’s a car that makes a powerful statement. It’s beautifully sculpted, with aggressive aerodynamic components integrated all around, and it’s dumb fast, for those lucky enough to get behind the wheel and drive one…or at least ride in the luxury of the passenger seat.

The McLaren Duo

Mclaren car show boca raton

Would it be a Diamonds and Donuts Car Show without McLaren? We think not. In fact, it’s not even possible.

We had two McLaren’s front and center, side by side. There was the orange McLaren 650S Spider and a newly wrapped McLaren 570S.

McLaren 650S Spider

Mclaren 650S spider

The McLaren 650S Spider is a car that straight up assaults your senses, and we mean that in the best way possible. With the bright orange color and spaceship-on-wheels design, it is brilliantly McLaren through and through.

And while the exterior is impressive on all fronts, as you can clearly see, the interior is something that most other exotic supercars simply can’t rival.

Inside the McLaren 650S Spider, you get the best of both worlds – an F1 race car with luxury vehicle assets. It’s as plush and classy as it gets. It’s the kind of supercar you can be in all day long without any sign of discomfort. The ergonomics are simply superb.

At Diamonds and Donuts we didn’t get to witness the 650S’ incredible power, we just got to admire its beauty. Nevertheless, we know what it is capable of. It can hit a top speed of 207mph and a 0-60 in about 2.9 seconds thanks to the 641 horses powering it. It’s balls to the walls on the road but what’s even more impressive is how smooth it is when doing so. Overall, it seems all the wealthiest car nuts want a McLaren these days. The 650S is one of the best choices from the world-class British car company’s lineup.

McLaren 570S with a New Wrap

mclaren 570s

The 570S is another iconic McLaren supercar. This 570S is owned by our friend @soflo_570s. The car just received a new wrap a few weeks ago. The wrap was done by Matias and the crew at @matiasmimessi. They did an amazing job, and they did it in under 2 days no less. The car is as rally ready as it ever was.

If you are in the rally scene here in South Florida, expect to see this car around…

And you will be thankful when you do. The McLaren 570S is a very special kind of car in so many ways. If you are the kind of person who is looking for the ultimate supercar experience, the 570S will provide that in full.

mclaren 570s boca raton

The McLaren 570S is the lightest weight in its class and it has the highest power to weight ratio. What’s more, it is one of the best bangs for your buck. It’s not as expensive as many other supercars that have the same kind of power and thrill.

The McLaren 570s is capable of some serious numbers. It reaches top speeds of 200+ mph and it can do a 0-60 in just over 3 seconds. Plus, the car is tremendously reliable and the luxuriousness is simply hard to beat.

All that awesomeness comes with a very reasonable price tag of around $190,000. Of course, that’s no small fee, but for what you get, it makes the 570S one of the smartest investments in the world of supersport cars.

Lambo Huracan

lamborghini car show florida

We had a few Huracans join us, as per usual. To date, the Huracan is Lamborghini’s most successful car ever, at least sales-wise. But that doesn’t mean it is not a rare sight to see. Lamborghini only sells 2,600 Huracans per year. Worldwide.

Of course, with South Florida being one of the supercar meccas of the world, the Huracan population is denser than usual. That said, every time we see one it excites us like its the first.

The Huracan is really just a sick car all around. It has a unique look that makes it instantly recognizable. It has a design that was based on the spiky hexagonal form of a carbon atom (the same element that makes up diamonds!).

Even in the dark, the Huracan is unique and easy to spot. It has an alluring full LED lighting system. High tech stuff.

And while all that is special to the Huracan, the seamless roof profile clearly displays the DNA of Lamborghini, as does the overall silhouette.

And as badass as the car looks, its power is really what makes it bad to the bone. It boasts a very impressive top speed of 202mph. Furthermore, it takes less than 2.9 seconds for it to reach 60 mph.

When it comes to status symbols, the Huracan is easily among the top in class.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster

lamborghini LP700-4

Guests also got the chance to marvel the LP700-4 Roadster. This is one of the most impressive cars ever made.

The 6.5L V12 engine is capable of hitting mind-bending speeds. We are talking about 217mph at its peak. That’s what 700 hp at 8,250 rpm will get you.

Beyond lunatic-type power, the car looks sick. The Aventador, in general, is quite possibly the sickest looking car in the game. It has such an aggressive appearance. What’s really cool is how this car’s design was guided by the original Lambos. Have a look at some of the first Lamborghini’s ever made and you can see that resemblance.

Needless to say, the LP700-4 Roadster was one of the major hits of the show. Rightfully so. After all, it’s a car that wears a price tag of a half million dollars.

Red Supra

new supra

We also got to pay respect to Toyota’s best driver’s car yet. A car made for the most serious of drivers.

Under the hood rests a formidable BMW sourced 3L twin turbo inline-six, which boots 335 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. The car is said to have razor-sharp response time and the sound of the new Supra is like music to any car enthusiasts ears, especially our import brethren.

As for speed, Car & Driver reported it can hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, which puts it among sports cars like the M2, 718 Cayman GT4 and Camaro SS. The best part is, it’s surprisingly more affordable at just under $50,000.

All in all, we are extremely pleased that the Supra came back into production because it came back with a vengeance.

American Muscle

american car show south florida

All of us South Floridians know Chargers, Challengers, Camaros and Mustangs roam the streets heavily down here. Florida is like the American Muscle Car’s most natural environment.

diamonds and donuts car show

Cars wrapped all the way around the parking lot. This birds eye view tells you everything you need to know.

All in all, it was a great turn out and we are happy that everyone was able to get out of the house and enjoy a car show in a safe environment. See you all at the next Diamonds and Donuts Car Show!
